Cafe Treeanon: A High Tea experience in Seoul

Cafe Treeanon is located in Cheongdam-dong, just a short walk away from Gangnam-gu Office Station exit 4. The cafe is pretty hidden, one could easily get lost on their way there. Upon arrival, one is greeted by an old building with a vintage charm. My friend and I went there during the winter season, which I think is a perfect season for a nice cup of tea. The cafe entrance is apparently usually lined with green bushes and roses if the season is right, but I went during winter so everything was pretty much dried up.

There is an outdoor seating area where you can enjoy your tea during the summer season. The interior of the cafe portrays a warm and antique atmosphere. Only downside is that the space is rather limiting, but I guess this also makes it cozy and intimate altogether. Soft 20th century jazz music plays in the background making the place even more welcoming.

Bookings and reservations have to be done prior to going. Charges are 18,000KRW per person, which I think is a fair price for high tea. A cancellation charge applies for any last minute cancellations, but I wouldn’t cancel if I were you because the cafe is worth a try!

When you arrive, you get seated and then choose your preferable choice of tea. There is a variety to choose from but the staff can help you make a selection depending on what flavours you like most. I got a rose tea that came with some milk while my friend got a coffee drink. You’d need a waiting period of around half an hour for everything to be brought to your table.

The high tea menu comprises croissant sandwiches, pound cake, pudding, scones, buttered cakes, yoghurt parfait, fruit and macarons. Everything that came tasted amazing and the tea, the tea was just too good!
